about katie

katie olinger is a songwriter from lagrange, georgia. they have never had an easy time being alive. in their 21 years katie has been marked by mental and physical illness, substance abuse, regular abuse, and instability. luckily this is all great material for songwriting. katie's music is part memoir, part mirror. they write about human living, in its beauty and its ugly, and they hope in doing so to find their place among the throng of it. their music is infused with the southern soul of their hometown, blended with folk influences like anaïs mitchell and bob dylan. katie received a bachelors of music in songwriting from berklee college of music in boston, massachusetts. they have been awarded the berklee world tour scholarship, cliff bradley endowed scholarship, berklee grant, and songwriting achievement scholarship. katie has played at various venues and festivals in both georgia and massachusetts including the hillside music festival, rockweave music festival, berklee earthapalooza, and several writers’ rounds at purelife house of music.
